Performance Opportunities
Performing before a live audience is one of the most valuable aspects of a Juilliard education. Our young artists participate in nearly 700 Juilliard-sponsored performance activities presented annually, and students regularly appear at Juilliard’s own Peter Jay Sharp Theater and at major New York City venues, including Lincoln Center’s David Geffen Hall, home of the New York Philharmonic, and Alice Tully Hall, where the Chamber Music Society performs; and Carnegie Hall, one of the world’s best known – and best – auditoriums.

At Juilliard, you don’t just learn from the experienced; you’ll be inspired by legends. The School’s 200-plus faculty members include internationally renowned performers, recipients of Pulitzer Prizes and Academy and Grammy Awards, and distinguished scholars. Anne Wang’s Composition Premieres at Lincoln Center
Anne Qian Wang (BM '17, composition) knows first-hand how important Juilliard’s connection to its location is. Her piece Quartered recently premiered at Lincoln Center’s Alice Tully Hall, performed by the Juilliard Orchestra and conducted by Jeffrey Milarsky, one of New York’s leading conductors of contemporary music who has worked with accomplished groups like the Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center, the New York Philharmonic chamber music series, and Juilliard’s AXIOM, specializing in masterworks of the 20th and 21st centuries.

Reflecting on the Memories
Juilliard faculty and students were proud to participate in the Table of Silence Project’s inaugural commemorative dance performance that took place on the Josie Robertson Plaza at Lincoln Center on the 10th anniversary of 9/11. Now-alumna Eve Jacobs (’14, dance) wrote of her experience taking part in this moving piece for The Juilliard Journal. “After living in New York City for a year,” says Eve, “I have a new sensory connection to the city and its significance in the world…”
